Preparing for an Exam

 
 
  • Patient Forms
  • Before your scan
    • Please arrive 30-60 minutes early, depending on your exam.
    • Bring your photo ID and insurance card. Out-of-pocket payment is due at the time of service. Checks and credit cards are accepted.
    • Based on the type of exam, you may be provided a gown and asked to dress down to socks and underwear.
    • You will be asked to complete screening questions and provide a brief medical history.
  • For MRI
    • All jewelry needs to be removed prior to arrival for your scan. This includes body piercings, watches, rings, etc.
    • All dentures with metal need to be removed.
  • Claustrophobia
    • You are invited to tour our scanners to understand your comfort level.
    • You can request medication from your referring provider before the scan.
  • What if I require contrast?
    • Drink lots of fluids the day of the scan. Preferably water.  Feel free to treat yourself to coffee or tea in our lobby.
    • An injection in a vein in the arm is required for contrast studies.
    • You may experience a slight metallic taste in your mouth, a slight headache, warm sensation throughout the body or a feeling of wanting to urinate when given contrast.
  • How long will my scan take? (Depending on the body part)
    • MRI exam can take 30 – 60 minutes
    • CT scan may take 15 – 30 minutes

  • After your scan
    • Once your scan is complete, board certified radiologists will review the scan and complete an interpretation report. Your results will be sent to the provider who referred you for the study.

Copies of your image files can be made be available to your referring provider or yourself. Click here to request a copy of your image files.
